THE ITALIAN ASSOCIATION rafting (AIRAF) was founded in Milan in December 1987 by a group of enthusiasts who sought to promote the sport.
In 1988 is raced in the first Championship on more of the tests, involving a fortnight of boats. In the course of the various editions the number of competitors has steadily increased. Hand in hand has developed the preparation of the technical regulation and to tender which today represents a firm point to many other foreign associations.
The commitment of these years has led the organization of its World Championships in rafting. In 2006 becomes F.I.raft. (Italian Federation rafting) associated with the F.I.C.K. (Italian Federation Canoe/Kayak), is part of the league sport of Acquaviva UISP/CONI and is among the organizations that have given life to the International rafting Federation and the European rafting Association.
